While Chinatown may seem to be the place most suitable to the older folks and it might have past the glory of its heydays, we strongly advocate that we all give it a second look. As seen in the recent years, much has been done both by the government and the local community stakeholders to revitalize the heritage venue.Besides just putting in the various “hardware” as in the prominently new features and landmarks, Yong-en sees the “heartware” not lacking too far behind. The big proportion of elderly community folks are being given much attention throughout the year - where festive seasons and celebrations always including their participation and receiving gifts and blessings.We are also incorporating the regular home visits and direction interactive sessions between the younger visitors with these senior citizens; all these are promoting the opportunity for good and healthy learning experiences.We hope that corporate businesses and organizations could also see their participation, through whatever sponsorship and/or promotion, as affirmation and support towards our efforts in establishing a strong sense of ownership in the students coming through this experience.Back to Social Enterprise main menu…
